“Twelfth Night”, Shakespeare’s comedy about gender confusion and the ease with which we fall in love has delighted audiences for hundreds of years and now the Drill Hall Theatre Company and Circus Arts Byron Bay combine to present a Rock & Roll Circus version of this delightful romp. Inverting the original Shakespearean paradigm of having men play all the roles, director Mike Russo has found a multi-talented, all-female cast to give this production a modern twist. Highlighted by circus entre-acts, lots of physical comedy and dancing to ’50s Rock & Roll and with a slightly modernised script this exciting production will have something for every member of the family. A play full of amusing characters doing very foolish things in the cause of love and mischief, “Twelfth Night” is one of our cultural masterpieces and greatest comedies.
All this for only $20 or $15 concession, “Twelfth Night” opens at the Byron Entertainment Centre, 17 Centennial Circuit Arts and Industry Estate, Byron Bay on Thursday September 3 and plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm until September 13.
