Fees from hiring the Drill Hall to individuals, groups and other arts and training organisations, goes towards the maintenance and management of the building – including cleaning, rates, electricity, upkeep and insurance. Any surplus from productions is re-invested into upgrades and capital works (eg. the partnership with Byron Shire Council for the tiered seating and the air-conditioning upgrade in 2016).

Capital improvements provide audiences and theatre workers with improved services and comfort, bringing the venue into the twenty-first century, while retaining its Mullumbimby character.
